On May 3, 2023, Allegiant Law LLP obtained a $7 million verdict for its client in a legal malpractice case against an Oregon law firm. After a 2-week trial, the jury found the defendants were negligent and caused $7 million in damages for the plaintiff’s lost business opportunity. The damages were reduced for comparative fault to $4.9 million.
Lead trial counsel Bonnie Richardson explained the significance of the jury’s decision: “Juries understand that law firms must be held accountable when lawyers are negligent and refuse to accept responsibility for harm caused to their clients.”
