In Virginia, many consumer transactions are protected by the VIRGINIA CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT. If the dealer or merchant has violated the Consumer Protection Act the consumer may be able to recover actual damages plus attorney's fees. If the violation is willful or intentional, the consumer may recover up to three times the actual damages incurred plus punitive damages up to $350,000.00.
In some instances a case can be settled without going to trial.
